Anna Schütten (*1989 in Cologne) studied Freie Kunst at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe and Epistemic Media (Klang & Realität) at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf. In addition to solo and group exhibitions, her artistic practice consists of interdisciplinary and cooperative approaches, i.e. she is part of Simultanhalle Köln, grapefruits zine and co-founded the mæro ensemble in 2019. She received several awards and grants for her projects, e.g. the artist-in-residence at Global Forest e.V., St. Georgen (Schwarzwald), NEUSTARTplus Stipendium of Stiftung Kunstfonds and the research grant for music from the City of Cologne.

Anna Schütten looks for rhythms. At times these rhythms are silent, sequences of images in everyday life. Or rhythms inaudible to us, such as those covered under surfaces of water. Using a microphone and recorder, she records the seemingly abstract patterns of her surroundings and turns the field recordings into starting points for possible music. In her site-specific installations and performances, she picks up on the acoustic properties of the exhibition venues and shifts the focus to the marginally perceptible.

During her residency in Krems, she will develop a soundwalk in which she will listen to the underwater sounds of the Krems waterways together with a group of interested participants
