The sound of the universe. Triangulation is the title of the three-part installation conceived for the Minorite Church by the Oslo-based US-American artist Camille Norment. The project draws a conceptual triangle between the spheres of the sensual, the scientific, and the spiritual. It investigates the interrelationships between sound, space, and consciousness, between knowledge and the unknown, human perception and cosmic order.

The first work Frisson consists of a large, stainless steel sphere reflecting its surrounding environment. It emits low-frequency rhythms extracted from recordings of cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) – a sound from the theorized origin of the universe, a fascinating echo of the Big Bang. The second work Everyting but Noting features a singing bowl supported by a spidery drum stand. In the bowl, a pair of baoding balls are set in motion and made to sound. The third part The First Conscious Moment is a single dot of ink on the wall – a particle of noise and potential with zero dimensions, the origin of a consciousness.

With Triangulation, Camille Norment continues her ongoing exploration of sound, resonance, and liminal spaces. She stakes out the threshold between presence and absence, matter and immateriality. Sound manifests as a medium that transcends cultural and linguistic boundaries and enables a profound reflection on reality.
