Since the opening of Kunsthalle Krems in 1992, special music and sound art concepts have been developed, which draw from the unique acoustic, architectural, and spiritual qualities of the Minorite Church. For example, concerts and projects that make a distinct reference to its specific features – such as progressive positions in contemporary music that cast aside traditional forms of reception in the classical concert hall and integrate the space itself as a musical parameter. With the acquisition of the church by the NÖ Festival und Kino GmbH (2002) and the subsequent renovation and adaptation of the building, the potentials for programming were decisively improved.

The Klangraum Krems in the Minorite Church presents high-calibre international events: site-specific works, installations, performances, contemporary music, and sound art, often concentrated in the context of diverse festivals such as the Festival Imago Dei. The Klangraum also hosts projects and performances by the festivals Glatt&Verkehrt, European Literature Days and donaufestival. Furthermore, the space can be rented for a variety of occasions.
