Imago Deae

When Nadja Kayali became the director of Imago Dei three years ago, she began her first festival with a concert that transformed Imago Dei into “Imago Deae”. The concept was to invite female singers and musicians from different backgrounds and with different musical approaches to elaborate unifying musical ideas. Nataša Mirković was one of the directors of the project at the time, but was unable to sing on the evening of the concert after having just recovered from COVID. Asja Valčić, on the other hand, performed until the dress rehearsal and was in bed with a high fever and COVID on the day of the concert.

Nadja Kayali’s biggest wish was to conclude her directorship with a concert that builds on the opening three years ago and gives centre stage to Nataša Mirković and Asja Valčić. New protagonists are Sofia Labropoulou, a globally sought-after virtuoso on the Arabic zither kanun, and sound artist Tahereh Nourani. The multicultural vocal ensemble GLAS under the direction of Nataša Mirković is on board again, too. The musicians share a desire and curiosity to explore the musical world of their counterparts and create something new together. The festival theme “Freedom” will guide them in this endeavour.

After the event, the Association of Friends of the Kunstmeile Krems invites to the traditional reception with wine and bread.
