Primitive Komplexität Zimoun

Tue - Sun from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Zimoun’s organic installations and sound sculptures emerge in an interplay between mechanics, movement, and physically created sounds. They are delicate works with a poetic playfulness, simultaneously simple and complex, results of repetition and fine anomalies, routine and coincidence.

Although Zimoun uses very simple everyday and industrial materials, when combined their mutual interactions generate complex forms of sound and movement. He often works with a great number of identical mechanical elements, which he modifies in accordance with the site-specific works.

His work “150 prepared dc-motors, filler wire 1.0 mm” (2009/2010) will be on display in the Kapitelsaal. It employs direct current motors and filler wires to continuously generate acoustic and visual structures over the course of the exhibition.
