Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche

Ensemble Organum / Ensemble SoloVoices Occitania / Stimmung

For a long night of nearly eight centuries people in southern France sung about their dreams in a language that the ruling powers forbid them to speak. The Ensemble Organum transforms the Klangraum Krems into an Occitan soundscape and follows the traces of its lyrical and musical creations, from the present day back to the 11th century.

Karlheinz Stockhausen’s “Stimmung” was developed in 1968 as an utopian expression of a new form of musical inter-action and human communication. Like a mantra, the singers from SoloVoices sing the same chord into the microphone in the Klangraum Krems in the Minorite Church, unfolding six overtones through different vowels. “Stimmung” is a process of the everlasting search and strive for the unreachable, a permanent attempt to transcend borders.
