Discussion Concert

Simon Laks opens the “Zwischentöne Polen” (Poland Overtones ) focus of the Imago Dei Festival, a three-year series dedicated to Polish-Jewish composers who were persecuted, deported, or murdered during the Nazi era. Laks was born in Warsaw in 1901, studied in Paris, was deported to Auschwitz during World War II, and returned to Paris where he later died in 1983.
Only after his liberation did he slowly begin to compose once again and subsequently devoted himself primarily to chamber music. This discussion concert with publisher and producer Frank Harders-Wuthenow and author Doron Rabinovici is the ideal starting point for an expedition into the fascinating world of the unjustly little-known composer Simon Laks, who is honoured with a major concert evening on April 1.
