Krems Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche

14 musicians from the brilliant soloist ensemble PHACE will become light and shadow players in the Klangraum Krems. They pursue the movements of gigantic northern lights, which the Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho saw gleaming in the Arctic sky and inspired her to the form and language of her work “Lightbow”. Flickering and fluttering sound tracks seem to reflect the heavenly light show. In the work “Talea” by François Sarhan from France, melodies and rhythms circulate around the audience at various tempos, like planets, satellites, and other heavenly bodies, each following their own orbit: a “Harmonice mundi” in the darkened Klangraum. “Lightness” by the British artist Juliana Hodkinson is firework music of the quiet kind: three musicians play amplified matches, matchboxes, sandpaper, water, and sand. PHACE will also present a world premiere light work of the Austria-based Muscovite composer Alexandra Karastoyanova-Hermentin.
