Pianist Paul Gulda and a soloist ensemble spark acoustic illuminations on keys, strings, hides, and reeds. In deep darkness Gulda performs his father’s, Friedrich Gulda’s score of Goethe’s poem “Blessed Longing”. A seamless transition leads to Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata”, which illuminates the entreaties of love of a lonely person in a romantic spirit of nature. The alluring piano and ensemble pieces by the Waldviertel-based composer and pianist Johannes Wohlgenannt Zincke enlighten the night yet preserve its magical sound secrets. The resounding quest for light proceeds to the poem “Vers la flamme” by the musical Prometheus from Russia, Alexander Scriabin. Five minutes of piano music that changes the world—proclaiming nothing less than the rebirth of the planet and humanity.
