Film

The film Drei Söhne (Three Sons) is a documentary by German director Birgit-Karin Weber with music by the Polish-Jewish composer Simon Laks, who is honoured with a special focus in the Imago Dei 2022 festival programme. The film tells the story of three sons: André Laks, a philosophy professor from Paris and son of composer Simon Laks, Raphael Wallfisch, an internationally known cellist from London, and Thomas Frankl, a gallery owner from Vienna. The parents of the three protagonists were artists – one parent respectively survived the Auschwitz concentration camp. The film tells of three different ways of living with the past, with the work of the parents, but also with the wall of silence.
