MAJAAP Maja Solveig Ratkje: voice, electronics; Jaap Blonk: voice, electronics

The symbolic title presumes that with MAJAAP two sound worlds clash and melt. Jaap Blonk is rooted in Dadaistic echoism; his equipment consists of his voice, body language and facial expression; his works are linguistic compositions presenting various sounds and expressions of language in ever-changing facets. Multi-talented Maja Solveig Ratkje’s background, on the other hand, is classical composition; yet, she has created herself an impressing amount of freedom to operate in various professions. As a performer she primarily makes use of her voice and electronics. In her spectacular solo album “Voices” she relies on her voice as the only source of sound, which she then boosts to breathtaking heights and depths by electronic means.
