Dieter Moebius: electronics
Hans-Joachim Roedelius: electronics

With Cluster—founded in Berlin with a “K” as “Kluster”—, one of the most important, yet slightly underestimated electronics / krautrock ensembles recently reunited. The duo became known mainly through its collaborations with Michael Rother (Neu!, Kraftwerk) under the name of Harmonia, and especially those with Brian Eno (a legendary episode when the annoyed David Bowie summons his producer Eno from the then Cluster headquarters deep in the West German woods to his studio in Montreux because he saw the production of his album in jeopardy). With ambient experiments and minimal beats Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius set the basis for the quick success of electronic music in the following decades. They were and still are pioneers in the best sense of the word. The “The Originator of Space Age” (as they are called in Japan) concerts are still brilliant today—documented in many performances between San Francisco and Tallinn, as well as on the live album “Berlin 07” recently released under the American label “Important Records”. Hardly any electronics band interacts with such great respect towards each other, such concentration, yet also with a certain amount of ease and casualness on stage.
