Naqsh Duo & Stefan Fraunberger with Ensemble Ornamentrauschen & Lillevan Ornamental Noise

The Farsi word “Naqsh” for ornamentation, form, and figure in the visual arts has been translated by guitarist Golfam Khayam and clarinet player Mona Matbou Riahi into the musical arts. The duo from Tehran sets forth on musical adventures within Persian music culture and beyond. –  The “Ornamental Noise” by Stefan Fraunberger is inspired by the tuning systems and rhythms of the Persian music theoretician Safi ad-Din al-Urmawi (12th century). The Austrian Fraunberger expands music geography, creating musical dialects from regional codes. Video animation by Lillevan (in cooperation with AIR).
