Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche

Chorus Musica Sacra Krems & Cappella Musica Sacra Revolution and Reformation

Bach’s Reformation Cantatas, motets, and Christian Lehnert’s reading of Luther’s Table Talk and own texts

For Martin Luther, music and word were two powerful divine gifts, which consummate in their union. Luther’s word-sound combination, passed down in many of his church hymns, found its most powerful and glorious fulfilment in the cantatas, motets, oratorios, and hymns by Johann Sebastian Bach. How the Reformation lives on today as a revolution of word and music can be heard in the opening concert of the Easter festival Imago Dei. The performance of Bach’s “Reformation Cantatas” will be accompanied by Christian Lehnert’s readings from Luther’s Table Talk and his own texts.
