Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche

Wiener Kammerchor & Amadeus Ensemble Wien The Seven Last Words

Why? Never has a question been formulated more precisely in music than in the motet “Why has light been given to the weary of soul” by Johannes Brahms. Time and again the question of the point of earthly suffering resonates in the polyphony of human voices. Why? From the archaic primal depths of God-forsakenness resounds the fourth question of Jesus on the cross in James McMillan’s choir and string orchestra work “Seven Last Words from the Cross“ and ascends into transcendence, where the Wiener Kammerchor and the Amadeus Ensemble under the guidance of Ernst Kovacic reveal the effect of the whole composition. Who? In each of the five movements of Germán Toro-Pérez’s violin concert “Dialogos Incietros” the solo instrument (soloist: Simona Venslovaite) is acoustically confronted by another counterpart in its search for encounters.
