La Camera delle Lacrime Dialogues of Love

In early 1254 there was a night of respect and love in a meeting between western and eastern Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, and polytheists at the court of Genghis Khan’s grandson Mongku Khan in the ancient Mongolian capital Karakorum. The religiously uncertain Khan gave the various believers the opportunity to present their convictions. According to the accounts of the Franciscan monk Wilhelm of Rubrouk who participated in the verbal dialogue, they were at a loss of words in the morning hours, so the different believers began to celebrate their religions in chants of praise. The ensemble La Camera delle Lacrime, with a cast of musicians from different cultures of the west and east, pursue a creative reawakening of this musical dialogue of love from the Middle Ages.
