Stadtpfarrkirche Krems-St. Veit und Evangelische Heilandskirche Krems

Cooperation KirchenTonArtKrems

In addition to the Easter Week events this year, a series of concerts and liturgical celebrations will again be taking place in cooperation with KirchenTonArtKrems.

It begins with the performance of a musical treasure interpreted by the Chorus and the Capella Musica Sacra Krems: the "St John Passion" ascribed to the young George Frideric Handel (left) from 1704. From 2 April, KirchenTonArt Krems will be organising the musical programme of the liturgies immediately before Easter in the Krems Protestant Church of the Saviour and the parish church of St Veit.

The association KirchenTonart Krems goes back to the "Kirchenmusikverein Krems", who existed already in the 19th century and has been reactivated in 1982 with the aim of "supporting all church musical activities of the parish church of St Veit, especially the purchase of a new and appropriate mechanical pipe organ and of other instruments or their maintenance". Since its establishment, KirchenTonArt Krems has organised more than 200 concerts. In 1991, the sphere of activity of the association was extended beyond the region of Krems to all of Austria. www.kirchentonart.at
